Australia Zoo

Australia Zoo is one of the country’s most loved destinations, known globally for its wildlife conservation efforts and the Irwin family legacy. Its online store plays a key role in supporting the Zoo’s mission, offering merchandise that connects people to the cause and helps fund ongoing conservation work. The goal of this project was to modernise the eCommerce experience and make it easier for customers to explore, discover, and shop.

As UX and UI Designer, I led the redesign of the Australia Zoo online store with a focus on usability, structure, and storytelling. I reworked the site’s collection architecture to simplify navigation and make browsing more intuitive across categories such as apparel, accessories, toys, and homeware. The new design introduced collection filtering, featured category sections, and product bundling to highlight themed sets and encourage multi-item purchases. I also added sibling product links on product pages, improving discoverability and cross-selling opportunities.

Visually, the refresh introduced a cleaner, more consistent layout with refined typography, improved imagery, and a focus on creating a cohesive look that balances retail appeal with the Zoo’s strong conservation identity. The design ensures the shopping experience feels modern and engaging while staying true to the warmth and purpose behind the Australia Zoo brand.

The result is an eCommerce experience that’s easier to navigate, better aligned with customer behaviour, and reflective of the Zoo’s reputation for care, authenticity, and connection to nature.
